Transportations to Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is characterized by the fact that the extent of the railroads in the country is minimum. Therefore the available railway stations not always cope with volumes of transportations that often leads to a congestion of cars and formation of "traffic jams".

Transportation of goods from Turkey, the countries of Europe and USA to Afghanistan are carried out by the following options:

1.) in case of transportation of goods in containers, and also in case of big parties, freight is transported by sea transport (in the sea container or on the vessel) to the ports of Georgia (Poti or Batumi) with further transfer of freight on cars and delivery to Hairatan, Mazar-i-Sharif or Turgundi station (Afghanistan).

2.) in case of container transportations often freight is delivered to the ports of Europe (Riga, Rotterdam, Gdansk and dr) from where it is transported containers by rail to Afghanistan through points of transition of Galab or Serkhetabat.

3.) transportation by the motor transport from Turkey to the western area of Afghanistan through Iran.

Transportation of goods to Afghanistan by rail is generally carried out through point of transition Galab / Hairatan (Uzbekistan – Afghanistan). Cars are given from Galab's station Uzbekistan to Afghanistan to Hairatan or Mazar-i-Sharif station on the railway bridge. Loading / unloading of cars and containers happens directly in Afghanistan at stations Hairatan or Mazar-i-Sharif.

Transportation to Afghanistan through the Uzbekistan Termez port which is in close proximity to Galab's station is also possible. In this case freight arrives to Termez port where there is a transfer on the river barge and a transportation on the Amu Darya River in Afghanistan Hairatan port .

In case of transportation of goods to the district of the city of Herat (Herat) Afghanistan, point of transition Serkhetabat – Turgundi (Towraghondi) through Turkmenistan to Afghanistan is used. Freight is by rail delivered to border station Serkhetabat (Turkmenistan – Afghanistan) and further is transferred to the port of Turgundi Afghanistan.

At stations Hairatan , Mazar-i-Sharif and Turgundi cars/containers are overloaded in cars and are delivered in a terminal point of delivery in Afghanistan.
